We will open the
book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on
them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its
first chapter is
New Year's Day. ~ Edith Lovejoy Pierce
Youth is when
you're allowed to stay up late on New Year's Eve. Old age is
when you're forced to.
One
resolution I have made, and try always to keep,
is this: To rise above the little things. ~John
Burroughs
Fear less, hope more;
Whine less, breathe more;
Talk less, say more;
Hate less, love more;
And all good things are yours
- Swedish Proverb
The timeless in
you is aware of life's timelessness; and knows that yesterday is but today's
memory and
tomorrow is today's dream. ~ Kahlil Gibran
In ancient times
cats were worshipped as gods;
they have not forgotten this. ~ Terry
Pratchett

We
spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list
of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to
balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not
looking for flaws, but for potential. ~ Ellen
Goodman
Potential KGLP 91.7 FM Radio Service
in El Morro Valley Area
KGLP 91.7 FM , the Gallup area's PUBLIC NPR
station is considering providing a low-power translator/repeater for our
area. This would be contingent upon factors such as local interest and
support of the station. If there is sufficient interest they might be
able to raise enough funds from a combination of local pledges,
corporate donations, and a little foundation money to establish a rural
network.
Programing information for KGLP is available at
www.kglp.org. KGLP
continues to provide public service announcements supporting arts and
activities in our community.
If you are interested in KGLP providing local service and would pledge
to support KGLP when there is local service, you can either sign the
petition to KGLP located at the Inscription Rock Trading & Coffee at El
Morro or send an email directly to
manager@kglp.org indicating your support.
When we venture south and begin driving east on Route 53, there is
something more than the towering ponderosas, unique rock formations, and
lush green countryside that welcomes us to the El Morro Valley. This
intangible quality is seen in the warm greetings between the wait staff
and diners at the Ancient Way Café, and felt in the sincere interest
locals take in a visitor’s journey to the area. There’s an overwhelming
sense of community and concern that is such a big part of an area only a
few square miles in size.
